How to Register Early for Pottermore - Magical Quill Challenge

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the process, so this a simple tutorial to help you out.



- Clue times -
The clue times starting from Sunday, July 31st to now Tuesday, August 2 have been:
Sunday: 4 am EST
Monday: 5 am EST
Tuesday: 6 am EST

So I predict the rest of the clues will appear:
Wednesday: 7 am EST
Thursday: 8 am EST
Friday: 9 am EST
Saturday:10 am EST
This is just guesswork. They may decide to mix it up and do completely different times, but it looks like a recurring pattern to me.

It was exactly 6 am EST when the clue was up today(Tuesday).



- Where is the Clue -

On the front page of Pottermore. It will be in the place of where it says the day before is closed for registration.



- How to figure out the answer -

Intellect! Hard work! And a keen mind!

Who are we kidding... Google it. You more than likely want to figure it out on your own, and I applaud you if you do! But... even the most devoted HP fan would find it hard to remember how much Gryffindor was ahead of Slytherin in the quidditch game in Harry's third year multiplied by some number*.

*That was Tuesday's clue

So, for those of us who do not have super-memory, use Google. I recommend just googling something like "Day 3 Pottermore Magical Quill clue" instead of googling the answer to the clue, i.e. "how many points was Gryffindor ahead of Slytherin in the quidditch match in Harry's third year", because you'll probably get results for something related to quidditch and not your answer. I ended up finding my answer in Yahoo Answers.


You can also search Twitter if Google is no help. Twitterer @HP_Batsignal posts the answer, and they also tweet when the clue is up. Very nifty!



- How do I find the Magic Quill -

You find the magic quill by answering the clue. You answer the clue by adding the answer for the clue to the url, http://quill.pottermore.com , for instance with the clue for Day 3 (where the answer was 2100) the url was, http://quill.pottermore.com/2100 . If the correct answer is in the link it will lead you to another website(it took me to The Guardian's website) where there will be what looks like an ad for Pottermore with a shining quill on it. Move your cursor under the quill, while moving your cursor to make the quill go to the top of the ad box. If you are successful, there should be some text that appears in the ad box congratulating you and whatnot. Click it for it to take you to the registration page. Click Register. Register. Yay! You have more than likely gotten into Pottermore!

- Do not sell your Pottermore account on EBay. That is sleazy. You are not sleazy. You are classy! So stay classy and don't EBay something that is free in two months! -
